SMART TV'S & WHY THIS ONE IS A MUST-HAVE FOR YOUR AIRBNB
Let's talk TV's and why these ones will save you time and save you from potentially negative reviews!
Never again will I purchase a TV that isn't a smart tv and doesn't have a built-in Roku!
Why is that you ask? Because you can eliminate potential guest complaints and late night calls with these benefits:
REMOTE OPTIONS: If the tv remote batteries die or go missing, your guests can download an app and still work the tv! This has saved me so many times after remotes disappear. You will need to instruct the guest to download the Official Roku Remote app on their phone. When they do so, they need to be connected to the house wifi or whichever wifi the TV is also connected to and boom they have access to every channel through their phone.
BUILT-IN ROKU: Are you familiar with Roku? It's a free account that you can use to stream tv. Paired with a Sling TV and Netflix account, it's (in my opinion) the most affordable way to offer your guests hundreds of channels and movies without having to purchase cable. The best part is you can connect multiple TV's and devices to the same account at no additional charge. You can also lock purchases so that guests cannot make purchases or access your account without your authorization.
AFFORDABILITY: Gone are the days where smart tv's are beyond reasonable in price. I've outlined some great options on TV's that we use in our rental units. Of course, there are others I just like TCL and Hisense because their remotes are easy to replace, the prices are reasonable and the quality is pretty decent. The best thing about streaming tv is it's a fraction of the cost of cable and you can connect multiple devices at no extra charge!
NETFLIX & SLING TV: These apps are available on smart tv's and through Roku. It's easy to connect them for your guests to use or they can log into their own accounts. We ditched cable long ago and have saved tens of thousands of dollars across all of our rentals throughout the years. We've found that many channels are in the Sling packages that cable providers offer. Most of our guests are here for sporting events, conventions and exploring the city so cable is rarely missed and we are upfront with our guests about what we provide (local channels, Netflix and Sling TV) at the time of booking. It's pretty rare that we get pushback about not having cable tv.
CABLE: Don't offer cable? If your guests have their own cable networks, they can still log into them on the smart tv's and stream their accounts!
BUSINESS TRAVELERS: This is a travel perk for business travelers. Smart tv's are super convenient if you host a lot of business travelers, particularly if they are working from home as they can connect their devices to the TV for a larger display
